Short note from the Editor: Last month, The Village Voice hosted their first 4Knots Music Festival, replacing the ten-year run of the Siren Music Festival held annually at Coney Island. And while the outdoor concert wasn’t held at the desired and beloved beach, its South Street Seaport location provided enough sun, beer, and not to mention, space for mosh pits that even the most displeased fans of the Siren Fest were caught smiling. As with most first shows, the six band lineup, which consisted of The Black Angels and Oberhofer, among others, left something to be desired in the musical sphere; however, what some of the bands lacked in lyrics and instrumentals, they made up by the enchantment of the crowd.

GALO sent photographer Aehee Kang Asano to capture this indie-rock phenomenon.
