Want to be a part of the GALO Magazine team?
Send in a cover letter, your resume, and 2-3 published clips to [email protected] with “GALO Contributor” in the subject of your e-mail.
Please include which section you would potentially be interested in writing for.
All contributing positions are unpaid. However, all writers receive their own byline/biography, a place on the Masthead, press credentials when necessary, and the opportunity to be published online in a professional magazine.
What are we looking for?
Applicants must have: a strong grasp of the English language ( including spelling and grammar), ability to meet strict deadlines, and preferably prior journalistic experience. Since you will be writing from the comfort of your own home, a working internet connection and computer are required.
An interest in the arts is also a plus, but not mandatory.
Writers that are accepted will be asked to write 1-2 times a week for a trial basis period of 3 months. After which your work will be reviewed and you will be informed of further action.
Remember, all work submitted to GALO should be informative, original, and witty.

EDITORIAL GUIDELINES FOR ARTICLE SUBMISSION

Have a great idea for an article you’d like to write? Send GALO Magazine a pitch. Please do not send in completed articles.
Pitches should not exceed 200-250 words.
Pitches should include a brief synopsis (inclusive of a clear angle, your lead, and justifier), sources to be interviewed, and main points that will be covered in the piece. Should your idea be accepted, you may change your lead and justifier, if necessary, at a later time.
PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDELINES
Want to be a photographer for GALO Magazine?
Send in a cover letter, resume, and 4-5 photographs to [email protected] with “GALO Photographer” in the subject of your e-mail.
INTERNSHIP
Internships with GALO Magazine last a period of 4 months.
All interns are required to write 2 times a week for the duration of their internship. Internships are unpaid; however, school credit may be provided if your university allows it.
Interns are provided with their own byline and a place on the Masthead. In addition, interns are given the opportunity to work closely with the managing editor, gaining journalism experience and knowledge, and have their work published online. Moreover, the internship is based online; therefore, no need to worry about morning commute! However, one must have a working computer and reliable internet connection to be able to do the work.
To be considered for an internship with GALO Magazine, please write a 400 to 500 word film or art exhibition review or send in previously published clips.
When applying please include the following:
1) Current Resume
2) A Cover Letter
3) Samples of previously published work or a short review
4) Reason for applying and what you would bring to GALO Magazine
5) And sections that you may have a preference writing for
